OVERVIEW

Purpose of Job 

 

Provide daily management and oversight to Brokerage operations and staff and its activities with strict adherence to applicable US Customs and Participating Government Agency regulations and KWE’s Import and Brokerage Standard Operating Procedures; monitor daily Key Performance Indicator Reports and Systems Grid Searches to identify and reconcile irregularities; collaborate with the Compliance Audit Manager and the Sr. Compliance Manager to identify and conduct individual employee training as required.

Paid Time Off (PTO)

  • PTO begins to accrue for eligible new hires on their first day of employment with the Company, subject to the accrual cap.

Paid Holidays

  • Newly hired employees are entitled to all mandatory and optional/shift holidays that remain for the calendar year.  A newly hired employee who begins employment after January 1 of the calendar year is not entitled to more than ten (12) paid holidays for that calendar year.

Retirement Plan

  • 401(k) Plan (current employer match .50 cents for each employee dollar) subject to the current vesting schedule.

Student Loan Assistance

  • Eligible for student loan assistance after three (3) months of continuous employment, pending verification.
  • Company monthly contribution of $437.50, not to exceed an annual contribution of $5,250.00.
  • Any eligible employee participating in both Student Loan Assistance Program and Tuition Reimbursement Program is subject to a total maximum annual amount of $5,250.00 for both programs combined for the calendar year.

Tuition Reimbursement

  • Eligibility for Tuition Reimbursement is three (3) months of continuous employment.
  • Reimbursement is limited to $5,250.00 per employee per calendar year.
  • Any eligible employee participating in both Student Loan Assistance Program and Tuition Reimbursement Program is subject to a total maximum annual amount of $5,250.00 for both programs combined for the calendar year.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

1. Manage Brokerage Operations staff, monitor shipment workflows to ensure that all work is completed accurately and timely, and assist as necessary to resolve brokerage service and compliance issues and concerns.

2. Collaborate with the Sr. Compliance Manager and Sr. Director of Compliance to timely prepare and present annual performance reviews of those Brokerage Operations staff assigned.

3. Collaborate with the Compliance Audit Manager to identify areas of deficient performance of designated staff; ensure that effective training to rehabilitate such identified deficient performance and behaviors is provided; in the event that any such poor performance or deficiency cannot be rehabilitiated, collaborate with department management on the preparation and presentation of disciplinary actions up to and including termination when as necessary. 

4. Review and resolve issues identified in internal management reports including but not limited to system Event Notification Grid Searches, High Duty Reports, Not Cleared reports, not scanned reports and the like.

5. Process Customs clearances (including processing of Participating Government Agency reporting) for assigned accounts.

6. In accordance with company policies, timely respond to communcaitions and requests from clients, regulatory agencies, branches within the company, vendors and the like. 

7. Assist with the onboarding of new clients ensuring that all new Brokerage Account Setup forms are collected and in good order; collect the client's Standard Operating Procudes document if available; document internal client clearance processing procedures including but not limited to Harmonized Tariff Code assignment, delivery instructions, billing and Service Repayment Agreement and create system account profiles; train designated entry agents in all of the same. 

8. Maintain thorough and up to date knowledge in Company policies and procedures as well as US Customs and Participating Government Agency requirements as applicable.

9. Perform work as may be assigned from time to time from department management.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Basic Qualifications & Requirements

 

List any required educational attainments (degrees, certificates, licenses, etc.):  Customs Broker License required

 

List any required skills (computer, machinery, typing, etc.):Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel, Working knowledge of ABI entry processing.

 

List any required special attributes (ability to move/pick-up certain weight capacity, personality traits, certain aptitudes, etc.): Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral & written), Capable of understanding and following customer specific instructions, excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, detailed organization capabilities and a desire and ability to follow projects through to completion. This position requires a high energy individual with a strong work ethic, and must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment.

 

List any required experience (of what type, for what duration, in what industry, etc.): Minimum 3 years management experience in brokerage operations. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications

 

List any preferred educational attainments (degrees, certificates, licenses, etc.): NCBFAA CCS or MCS certification; Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, Industry certifications 

 

List any preferred skills (computer, machinery, typing, etc.): Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Access preferred

 

List any preferred special attributes (ability to move/pick-up certain weight capacity, personality traits, certain aptitudes, etc.):  Ability to prioritize and manage time.

 

List any preferred experience (of what type, for what duration, in what industry, etc.): Experience with using CargoWise Customs software would be a benefit.
